EVALUATION:
The academic performance of every student is evaluated on a continuous basis through a weekly test, the mid term exam and the Annual exams. Additional grades are given for class projects, assignments, and home work.

COMPETITIVE EXAMS:
In addition to the benchmark exam conducted by the Educational Initiative (ASSET) to identify the position of the students and school on National Level, the students are encouraged to appear for the Mathematics Olympiad, Science Olympiad, IT Olympiad, National Talent Search Exam, CBSE-Intel Quiz, INCA – Quiz, UN – Quiz and the Cadbury Bournvita Quiz.

CULTURAL ACTIVITIES :
A Garba night is organized during Navratri every year. The Parents Day or the Annual Day celebrations are held once in two years.

SPORTS & GAMES:
The School Sports Day is held once in two years on the school sports grounds.

100mt, 200mt, 400mt and 4x400mt relay races, Shot-put, Javelin, Discus throw, Long jump and High jump are part of Athletics meet.

Special coaching in Football, Basket ball, Athletics, Yoga, and Skating are arranged for interested students. The students are encouraged to participate in the C.B.S.E school meet, and state and national level competitions in sports.

INTERHOUSE COMPETITIONS:
The competitions organized in the school under different houses are Hindi extempore speaking, English extempore speaking, Art Competition, Science Quiz, Elocution, Group Song and the Eco Quiz.

WELFARE ACTIVITIES:
As a part of our program to inculcate philanthropy in our students we arrange for them to visit Old age Homes, Orphanages and Slums to give gifts in cash and kind. They are also encouraged to give financial assistance to the Blind Men Association, Child Relief Fund, Helpage India etc

COUNSELING:
D.P.S has a fully qualified counselor as part of its faculty to take care of any personal counseling needs of the children.

PARENT INTERACTION:
D.P.S. strongly believes that interaction between parents, students and the staff improves social skills and helps to boost confidence levels in the child. In order that parents share activities with their children, a Blood Donation Camp, Rangoli making competition, Cookery competition etc. are organized. The Parents day or the Annual Cultural Program is held once in every two years.

INTER-SCHOOL ACTIVITIES:
In order to encourage interschool interaction, the following programs are organized every year

• Cross Current - a student managed cultural event lasting two days.
• Inter – school extempore speaking competition.
• The students also participated in competitions organized by various schools like Anandalaya Anand, D.P.S Baroda, D.P.S Surat, D.P.S RKPuram and the Army School Ahmedabad.

SPECIAL ASSEMBLY:
During the general morning assembly, students present different programs like oration, recitation, skits or a song. In addition to this, special assemblies are conducted on occasions like Navratri, Children’s day, Teachers day, Independence Day and the Republic Day.

REMEDIAL CLASSES:
Students lagging behind in their studies are given individual attention by their teachers during Remedial Classes organized immediately after the mid term exam. These classes are held in small batches and the teacher gives special assignments to the child. Guided learning takes place in these remedial classes.

NCC :
Both Girls and Boys Battalion are open to students of classes VII-IX. Students are encouraged to attend camps to clear the A Certificate before class X.

FOREIGN LANGUAGE TEACHING:
French is offered as third language besides Gujarati and Sanskrit for classes V to X. We are trying to introduce other foreign languages like German and Chinese into the curriculum

TOURS AND TRIPS:
Students are taken for class picnics as well as for school tours. This year children visited Agra, Jaipur and Mahabaleshwar. During the previous summer holidays students visited Singapore and Malaysia

MENTORING :
Mentoring classes are held twice a week. A monthly schedule has been prepared for every academic session.
A lesson from the prescribed value education book is taken and activities pertaining to it are carried out. Activities which increase General Knowledge are also carried out in these sessions. The children are also counseled and efforts are made to find out the strengths, weaknesses and problem areas of every child. Solutions are sought to these observations.
Experts and in-house counselors train our teachers about the finer points of mentoring.
We have observed over the years that our school based mentoring has had a tremendous effect on academic performance and personal growth of child.
