Annual Sports day 2005-2006 for children of Classes
III to V was held at the Kridangan, Delhi Public School,
Ahmedabad on 10th December, 2005. Mr. Lionel Rodricks,
Sports Editor, Times of India was the Chief Guest
at the function.
The children and their parents enthusiastically
participated in the Sports Day function. The atmosphere
was charged with children in colorful sports wear
and indulgent parents. There were about 600 people
in the Kridangan on a cold but sunny winter morning.
The Chief Guest initiated the races in which children
participated with vigor and speed. The races consisted
of the Sack, Ball, Ring, Stick, Cone and the Flat
race, the Baton relay while the younger students also
participated in the Throw Ball competition. Students
gave a demonstration of different yogasanas and karate
moves.
Mr. Lionel Rodricks gave away the prizes to the winners.

Marchers
- A March Past Competition was held in the Police
Stadium on 17th December, 2005. 350 children from
7 schools participated in the competition. The participating
schools were Army School, Ankur, R.H.Kapadia, Tulip
International, Delhi Public School, Ahmedabad, Maharashtra
Shiksha Mandal and Hillwood School, Gandhinagar. There
were 10 contingents with 35 children in each contingent.
Parents and siblings watched eagerly as smartly dressed
students marched to the tunes and rhythms of the Police
band.
The chief guest of function Smt Jagjit Pavadia I.R.S
Comissioner, Central Excise, Ahmedabad took the salute
from the parade leader . The members of the Jury were
Mr. K.K.Singh I.R.S, Asst. Commissioner, Central Excise,
Mr. JayPrakash Shivhare I.A.S and Mr. Dave, Deputy
Commissioner, Police Control Board.
'Marchers' has been hosted by DPS Ahmedabad since
1997. Students from Class VII to XII can participate
in this competition. The aim is to build a sense of
team spirit, discipline, co-ordination and patriotism
in the children. Along with the Runners Up, the winners
will participate in the District Level Republic Day
Parade on 26th January, 2006.
The Army School was declared the winner while the
Tulip International School was declared the Runners
up. The Special Rolling Trophy went to R.H.Kapadia
Gujarati Medium School which participated in this
competition for the first time.

The
first Parents Day of Calorx Delhi Public School (Greenwud)
was held at the Amphitheatre, DPS Bopal Campus on Saturday,
17th December, 2005. Children from the Nursery classes
confidently sang and danced to the songs and stole the
hearts of the audience. Parents and teachers enthusiastically
clapped as the tiny tots presented each item. Three

The
10th Annual Day Celebrations of Calorx Delhi Public
School were held on Saturday, 24th December, 2005.
The Kridangan was filled with parents and invited
guests. The cold winter air did not dampen the enthusiasm
of the 300 odd participants who danced and sang and
performed to the tunes of classical, folk and fusion
music.
The students did themselves and the school proud.
The entire show, from the conceptualization to sound
recording and lighting was handled by the students
and teachers of the school. The murals and panels
for the stage were created by the Art Department of
the school. Mr. Saumil Dave was the coordinator for
the program.
The program started out with Mrs. Manjula Pooja Shroff
addressing the parents. She stressed on the importance
of technology in the school environment. Mr. Sunil
Trivedi gave the annual report of the School to the
audience. Mr. Amit Shah, Mayor Ahmedabad was the Chief
Guest for the evening.
The theme for the evening was a dance drama Oorukalli
- A Journey of Life. The program was an interesting
mix of different dance and music forms, each blending
in effortlessly with the other. A narrator - Sutradhar
- kept the reins of the program in his hands, leading
the audience through the life of Vishnu, the protagonist,
from his birth to his death. The program ended with
a vote of thanks to the students and teachers and
volunteers for making the evening a success.
